Cuyabeno Piranha Tour
Day 1
8:40 AM – 9:00 AM: Meet at Farm Hotel Magic Paradise, Lago Agrio.
9:00 AM: Private transport to Cuyabeno Reserve (2-hour journey).
11:00 AM: Arrival at Cuyabeno Reserve.Briefing at the environmental ministry’s interpretation center. Check-in at ministry offices.
11:30 AM: Canoe journey down the Cuyabeno River. Spot lush flora, fauna, monkeys, birds, and possibly anacondas.
1:30 PM – 2:00 PM: Lunch at Piranha Ecolodge. Learn about accommodations and the surrounding area. Time for a brief relaxation.
4:45 PM: Expedition to the meeting point of the Cuyabeno and La Hormiga Rivers.
Potential sightings of pink dolphins. Continue to Laguna Grande for sunset and a swim.
6:30 PM: Nocturnal trek to observe insects, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals (45 minutes). Search for black caimans and tree boas along the river.
8:00 PM: Dinner and welcome cocktail at the ecolodge. Option to relax in a hammock or enjoy a drink at the bar.
Day 2
6:00 AM: Expedition to the observation tower.Search for birds, monkeys, sloths, and spot colorful macaws.
7:30 AM: Breakfast at the ecolodge.
8:30 AM: Paddle and trek through the rainforest (45 minutes).Paddle through calm waters, with possible sightings of river otters.
Guided trek into the Amazon, learning about its ecology, flora, and fauna.
12:30 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch at Piranha Ecolodge.Time to relax in hammocks or rest in your room.
3:30 PM: Reflection at the interpretation center.Learn about the indigenous communities of Cuyabeno.
5:00 PM: Motorboat exploration of Caiman Cocha Lagoon. Wildlife spotting and sunset at the lagoon.
8:00 PM: Dinner at the ecolodge.Relax and reflect on the day’s adventures.
Day 3
8:00 AM: Breakfast at the ecolodge. Fuel up for the day’s adventures.
9:00 AM: Depart downstream to the Siona Community of Puerto Bolívar. You will be welcomex by a Siona woman who guides you through a yucca plantation and recieve hands-on experience making traditional casabe (yucca flatbread).
12:00 PM: Lunch in the Siona village. Enjoy communal dining and local flavors.
1:00 PM: Meet one of the last Siona shamans in Ecuador. Participate in an energy cleansing ritual with ancient songs. Then search for snakes and wildlife, and visit the giant El Ceibo tree.
5:30 PM: Paddle upstream, searching for birds, monkeys, and sloths. Enjoy the peaceful river and canopy setting.
8:00 PM: Farewell dinner and cocktail at the ecolodge. Reflect on the day’s experiences and the connections made in the Amazon.
Day 4
5:30 AM: Early morning voyage to Laguna Grande.Witness a vibrant sunrise and search for dolphins and wildlife.
8:00 AM: Breakfast at the hotel.Enjoy a peaceful meal before departure.
9:30 AM: Motorboat ride to Cuyabeno Bridge.Spot wildlife along the riverbanks.
Arrival at Cuyabeno Bridge: Private bus to Magic Paradise.
Lunch at Magic Paradise: Conclude the adventure with a final meal.
End of Day: Reflect on the beauty and wildlife of the Amazon as you journey back to civilization.
